A Story of Hope-Miguel Ovalle
A Story of Hope-Miguel Ovalle
2009
Miguel Ovalle is a true “Story of Hope”
He was born as the product of an affair to a father who didn’t want him and a mother who couldn’t deal with him. Left to his grandmother to be raised, she cared for him and wanted what was best for his future. That’s why, when she heard about Latin America ChildCare, she set off to find a way to get Miguel enrolled. Despite his grandmother’s care and the guidance of his teachers, Miguel got caught up in a gang during his adolescent years and was troubled. It was his friends and teachers at school that were supportive and Miguel turned to Christ. Miguel left San Pedro and headed for the capital where he would attend the Dominican AG’s Bible Institute, become a pastor, get married and start a family. As Miguel followed God’s call on his life, it led to somewhere he never dreamed, God called him to the mission field. For a Dominican to become a missionary was nearly unheard of in that day, but Miguel knew he had to answer that call. Because of his faithfulness to serve Christ, today Miguel and his family are serving in Haiti.
Carrie and I couldn’t be more proud to be part of the ministry that has played, and is playing such a pivotal role in the lives of so many like Miguel. That’s why we were thrilled to have the chance two months ago to visit with Miguel and his family in Haiti. During that visit we asked Miguel to share his testimony with us on camera, which you can see by clicking the image below, or for higher quality, downloadable versions of the video, click here. For a copy to show at your church or organization, please contact us directly.
If you’d like to help the next Miguel, click here to see a list of students waiting for sponsors to help them attend one of the sixteen schools where LACC is helping needy children every day in the Dominican. Thank you!

Carrie and I really enjoyed working on this project. We’re hoping it’s the first of many “Stories of Hope” from LACC in the Dominican.
